Everything you need to know about preparing your artwork for custom sign printing. Follow these guidelines for the best results.
The format of your artwork directly impacts print quality. Here's what we accept:
.AI, .EPS, .SVG, .PDF
Scalable to any size without quality loss. Ideal for logos and text.
.PSD, .TIFF, .PNG
Must be 300 DPI or higher at final print size.
.JPG, .GIF, .PNG (low-res)
Not recommended. Usually too low resolution for print.
For raster images (photos, non-vector graphics), resolution is critical. Low-resolution images will appear pixelated when printed.
At final print size. This is the standard for professional print quality.
May be acceptable for large signs viewed from a distance.
Not recommended. Will likely result in visible pixelation.
To check your image resolution: Open the image properties and look for dimensions in pixels. Divide by your desired print size in inches.
Example:
Image: 3000 x 2000 pixels
Print size: 10" x 6.67"
Resolution: 300 DPI ✓
Convert all colors to CMYK color mode. RGB colors may shift when printed.
For exact color matching, provide Pantone (PMS) color numbers.
For deep blacks, use C:40 M:40 Y:40 K:100 instead of K:100 alone.
More colors = higher cost. Simplify where possible to save money.
